Artist Statement My iconography is influenced by my love of nature and an awareness of the environmental problems our planet faces, which we, humans, help to create. In our age of technological advances we tend to forget that nature is our cradle, our source of inspiration and so our responsibility to protect. That’s why I am sensitive to the neglectful, often downright arrogant and irresponsible behavior of our species. My latest imagery is dealing with the confrontation of modern technical advances in construction with the disappearing of natural landscape. I am continuing to create mono‐prints in a similar way as for my previous show, still with the concern of natural landscape disappearing. However this time a various forms of a grid replace the machines. It is somewhat more abstract but it does not change the threatening feeling of intrusion on a natural landscape, the title of the exhibit. The grid, mostly black or red, is superimposed over the image of a landscape, sometimes jotting out of the frame thus creating a sense of instability or invasion. Since I discovered the water based printing inks I have been using them with much satisfaction. They contain less toxicity, spread as easily as oil based‐inks and clean with water.
